Same clip, same voice level. Only the noise changes.
How do I compare the original and cleaned audio?
Every upload gets a free 30-second preview of your own file, original and cleaned, before you pay. To hear what that sounds like first, play these six real noisy recordings and switch between the two versions.
EraseNoise is an online tool that lowers the noise behind a voice in an audio or video file. On 24 real recordings from the Microsoft DNS Challenge, the background score rose from 2.45 to 4.13 out of 5, and overall quality from 2.14 to 3.18.
All 24 recordings and their scores are in the before-and-after noise removal examples.
Cleaning a video usually means exporting the audio, cleaning it somewhere else, and lining it back up by hand. EraseNoise takes the video itself.
A desktop editor asks you to learn the software first. EraseNoise asks you to listen to 30 seconds of your own file first.
Drop in an MP4, MOV, M4V, or WebM straight from your phone or camera, up to 2 GB. You do not export the audio first.
Only the soundtrack is replaced. H.264 and HEVC footage from phones and cameras is copied as it is, not re-encoded, so there is no quality loss and no second render.
Pick WAV audio for any video: 48 kHz, the same length as the clip, starting at 00:00. Place it at the first frame in Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut and mute the old track.
Set the noise reduction strength yourself. Keep a little room tone instead of the hollow sound of cleanup pushed all the way.
The 30-second preview plays your clip, picture included, with an original and cleaned switch. 3 previews a day without an account, 20 with one.
Buy a minute pack once and use it when a noisy take comes up. Pack minutes never expire. Pro adds 20 hours a month for weekly shows.
Whatever you record on, the cleanup works the same way: upload the file you already have, hear a preview, and keep the version that sounds better.
Shot on a phone at a café, on the street, or next to a fan? Post it without opening an editor.
Remote guests record in kitchens and echoey rooms. You do not have to book a new session.
You record lessons in batches, and students need to hear every word.
Training videos, product demos, and Zoom or Teams recordings that need to sound professional.
A lecture, a street interview, or a phone call you need to transcribe or quote.
A pile of rough footage, and you want a first pass before opening a heavy DAW.
Most voice recordings fail because a steady sound sits under the speech. The words were fine. The room was not. This is the page to remove background noise from audio when that sound is steady.
Gusts hit a phone or camera mic outdoors: a beach walk, a rooftop interview, a talking-head on a windy street. They land as low thumps and rumble on top of the words. After cleaning, the gusts drop back and the voice stays in front. For windy phone footage, upload the MP4 or MOV itself and get the same clip back with the picture untouched. This is a real windy clip recorded outside, before and after.
Remove wind noise from videoA laptop fan, a fridge, a desk fan, or an air conditioner adds a constant whir under the voice, most often in home offices and bedrooms. Because the sound is steady, it is one of the easiest noises to lower: the whir falls away and the voice keeps its tone. A screen recording or a vlog shot next to the AC goes in as the video itself. This is a real air conditioner under a voice, before and after.
Remove fan noise from audioPassing cars, buses, and the wash of a busy road leak into street interviews, calls by an open window, and walk-and-talk vlogs. The steady road noise drops under the voice, so the words no longer compete with the street. A horn that lands on a word is the hard case, so listen for it in the preview. Street footage from a phone goes in as the MP4 or MOV, with no export first. This is real traffic under a voice, before and after.
Remove traffic noise from audioElectrical hum from a ground loop, a fridge, or lights, and the hiss of a cheap mic or a gain set too high, are low and constant, like a fan. They show up on USB mics, camera audio, and older recordings. Lowering them helps only if the voice does not turn thin, so compare the 30-second preview before you download. Camera footage with hum goes in as video, and the picture comes back unchanged.
Remove fan and hum noiseAudio can be MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, or FLAC. Video can be MP4, MOV, M4V, or WebM.
No account needed. EraseNoise picks the 30 seconds with the most speech and plays them as the original audio and the cleaned audio.
Audio comes back as WAV. Video comes back as MP4 with the cleaned soundtrack. Processing time is rounded up to the next whole minute. Your first minute is free when you sign up.
This page is the place to remove background noise from audio when wind, fans, traffic, or hum sit behind a voice.

| Splitting a song into a vocal and an instrumental | Vocal remover |
Splitting a song is a different job from cleaning a voice. These tools pull the singing and the music of a finished song apart, so you can keep either one.
Split a song into the instrumental and the vocals, and download either track or both as WAV.
Turn a finished song into a backing track. Every voice comes out, harmonies included.
Lift the singing out of a song with its original timing, ready to line up in a remix.
Take the voice out of a song you already have and keep the bass, drums, and chords.
Drop the lead singer, keep the harmonies and the band, and blend some of the lead back as a guide.
This page does one job: it lowers noise behind someone talking in a file you already have. These cases fit another tool, or need a retake.
In our keyboard sample the scores barely moved: overall quality went from 2.63 to 2.70. Keystrokes that land on a word can stay audible.
Another voice is speech too. In the yelling and laughing samples the background dropped, but the voice scored under 3 out of 5 for naturalness.
A video with several audio tracks gets one of them cleaned. Mono and stereo stay as they are; a file with more than two channels comes back as stereo.
Noise removal cannot rebuild words that clipped or broke up while recording. Re-record when you can.
EraseNoise cleans a saved file. For a call in progress, use the noise setting in Zoom, Teams, Discord, or Krisp.
These are not available yet. Tap the ones you need, and we will build the most requested first.
Clean every audio track in a file, such as separate mic tracks from OBS or a recorder, not just one.
Drop in a folder of lessons or takes and clean them all in one go.
Get a MOV back when you upload a MOV, instead of an MP4.
Hit -16 LUFS for podcasts or -14 LUFS for YouTube in one click.
Get a text transcript of the cleaned audio with the download.
After you remove background noise from audio, EraseNoise deletes the upload and the cleaned result 24 hours later. Files are not kept as public demos. Do not upload a recording you cannot leave on the service for that day.
Cut the noise at the source on the next take: the settings to use on the phone, mic, or app you record with.
Turn Voice Isolation on or off from Control Center, and what it cannot do for a video already on the camera roll.
Noise cancellation on DJI Mic 2, Mic Mini, and Mic 3, when to leave it off, and what it misses.
Krisp, input sensitivity, and Push to Talk, so a fan, a dog, or a keyboard stays off your mic.
To remove background noise from audio in EraseNoise, upload the recording at the top of this page and compare a 30-second preview before paying for the full file. Download the full file only if the cleaned voice sounds better than the original. The same steps delete background noise from the soundtrack of a video.
Yes. Upload the MP4, MOV, M4V, or WebM itself, up to 2 GB; you do not export the audio first. EraseNoise cleans the voice and puts the soundtrack back on the same video. H.264 and HEVC pictures are copied as they are, so the picture is not re-edited; WebM and other codecs MP4 cannot hold are converted to H.264. The video noise remover covers camera and phone footage in more detail.
Yes. For a video, choose WAV audio before you download. The WAV is 48 kHz and the same length as the clip, starting at 00:00, unless you trim it. Place it at the first frame in Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut and mute the original track.
As an audio background remover, EraseNoise lowers noise behind speech: wind, fans, air conditioning, traffic, and hum, and in our tests also a barking dog, a baby, breathing, and kitchen sounds. Keystrokes on top of a word and other people shouting are weak cases. To split a song into vocals and an instrumental, use the vocal remover. A counted echo belongs on Remove Echo. A dense room wash belongs on Remove Reverb. Music under speech belongs on Remove Background Music.
On 24 real recordings from the Microsoft DNS Challenge, the DNSMOS background score rose from an average of 2.45 to 4.13 out of 5, and overall quality from 2.14 to 3.18. Dogs, fans, traffic, and scrubbing dropped the most. Typing under a word barely changed. Every recording and its scores are on the noise removal examples page.
Partly. The 30-second preview of any file is free: 3 previews a day without an account, and 20 a day with one. Every new account gets 1 free minute: a file up to a minute downloads whole, and a longer one as a free 1-minute excerpt. Longer files use paid minutes: each file is rounded up to the next whole minute, and minutes from a pack never expire. Pro includes 20 hours per month, which reset each billing period; it is not an unlimited plan. Prices are on the pricing page. Silence removal is a separate free tool.
Audio uploads can be MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, or FLAC. Video uploads can be MP4, MOV, M4V, or WebM. Each file can be up to 2 GB. Cleaned audio downloads as WAV. A video downloads as an MP4 with the same picture and a cleaned soundtrack, or as a 48 kHz WAV for your timeline; this guide shows how to line the WAV back up.
Audacity's Noise Reduction asks you to select a stretch of noise alone, save it as a noise profile, and tune the strength by ear. In Premiere Pro, DeNoise and Enhance Speech run inside an edit you open first. EraseNoise needs no noise profile: upload the file and judge 30 seconds of your own recording before processing the rest. Audacity or Premiere Pro still fits when you need a manual mix, keyframes, or a full edit. Step-by-step guides: noise reduction in Audacity and noise reduction in Premiere Pro.
EraseNoise deletes the upload and the result automatically 24 hours after upload. Files are not kept as public demos.
Yes. EraseNoise runs in Safari or Chrome on an iPhone or Android phone, and in any desktop browser, with nothing to install. Pick the video or voice memo from your camera roll or files, play the 30-second preview without an account, and download the cleaned MP4 or WAV back to the phone. Processing the full file needs an account; the first minute is free when you sign up. To lower noise while you record instead, see Voice Isolation on iPhone.
